ASUP Urges FG To Upgrade All Polytechnics To Universities Of Technology

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has engaged the Federal Government to upgrade all polytechnics to universities of technology to end oppression Higher National Diploma (HND) certificate holders in the nation.

This was claim was made by Mr. Adeyemi Aromolaran, Yaba College of Technology branch Chairman of ASUP, in a meeting with newsmen in Lagos on Wednesday.

The ASUP administrator said that administration's oppressive arrangements against polytechnics were hindering the advancement of technical education in the nation.

"We have to take a gander at the British case of running educational programmes, since that is the place Nigeria duplicated the polytechnic education system from.

"England had canceled polytechnics long time prior; all polytechnics have been swung to universities of technology in that nation,'' Aromolaran said.

He noticed that affirmation considers along with the country's polytechnics and colleges of education  were dropping each year because of the perseverance of this segregation.

He focused on that the evacuation of this division is the thing that the union has been fomenting for and that the legislature has not given any great reaction.

The ASUP administrator included that until all the antagonistic arrangements were canceled, the nation would not have a compelling polytechnic framework that would be acceptable by all.

Aromolaran said the union would proceed to challenge and oppose all endeavors to reduce the advance and improvement of the polytechnic education in the nation.
