Catholic priest resigns in Akwa Ibom, says ‘I am free’

Well known Uyo-based Catholic Priest and radio minister, Rev. Fr. Patrick Henry Edet, on Wednesday declared his renunciation from the Roman Catholic Church.

The past Catholic cleric made the declaration while tending to his radio group of audience on Planet 101.1FM, Uyo.

As per him, the renunciation denoted the start of "opportunity" for his soul and soul.

He stated: "From today consequently, I stop to be a Catholic Priest, in my soul and in my spirit. I pardon the individuals who will reprimand me, I live for God. I look for opportunity for my spirit. As I leave, I leave grinning I am happy to the point that I am free."

While communicating his euphoria, Edet said he ought to be tended to as Reverend Patrick Edet.

In the interim, Aniekeme Finbarr, the Special Assistant on Media to Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel certified the radio declaration with a post on Facebook which peruses:
“JUST IN: Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Patrick Henry Edet has resigned from the catholic priesthood, quits the Catholic Church. He says he. And on a lighter note, he says he can still be called Fr.”
